glee season 6 spoilers
The premiere date for the final season of "Glee" was revealed. Find out when and where to catch Rachel (Lea Michele) and the other characters in the first episode of Season 6. Eddy Chen/Fox

It’s time to belt out a tune because Fox has officially set the premiere date for the sixth and final season of “Glee.” According to The Hollywood Reporter, the musical drama will return Friday, Jan. 9, with a two-hour premiere kicking off at 8 p.m. EST. However, the remainder of the show’s last installment will air an hour later, at 9 p.m. EST starting Jan. 16.

It was revealed that the premiere episode of the final season will have viewers bundling up as Lea Michele’s character Rachel Berry takes on a hit single from Disney’s 2013 animated film, “Frozen.” The actress confirmed the exciting news on Twitter with a photo of herself donning a dress fit for an ice princess.

“I don’t care.. What they’re going to say.. Let the storm rage on.. The cold never bothered me anyway…” she captioned the adorable photo that teased her future performance of the song “Let It Go.”

But that’s not all we know about the 13-episode final installment. Ryan Murphy, the co-creator of the Fox comedy, revealed to reporters in April that Season 6 of “Glee” would feature a time jump, reshifting the focus of the show on the original cast members.

"The final season is really its own story and its own location, and while the New York stuff will be alive, the final season is not New York-centric at all," Murphy said to the press. "It really [will be] a lovely, fitting season that … dwells on the original people that were on the show and what happens to them and how they give back. That really is the last season.... We'll revisit some of the new kids that came and went. There's a return of the Jane-Matt characters in a big way. It's really interesting, a very sweet, satisfying ending to the story."

Curious what New Directions veterans will be returning to the McKinley High School stage in Season 6? According to Bustle, in addition to Rachel and the regular character lineup, Tina (Jenna Ushkowitz), Emma (Jayma Mays), Puck (Mark Salling) and Quinn (Dianna Agron) will all be warming up their vocal chords for the final season set in Ohio.
