GM will assign new responsibilities for Vice Chairman Bob Lutz, just a few days after the company’s board decided to replace its Chief Executive Officer.

Chairman Ed Whitacre, who is now CEO on an interim basis will announce Lutz’s new duties, according to Bloomberg, citing people familiar with the plans.

Whitacre is building a team to run the company until a replacement is found, said the people, who asked not to be identifiedbecause the plans have not yet been announced.

The announcement to employees is scheduled for broadcast at 9 a.m. Central Time, a spokeswoman for the company told Bloomberg.
