Adam Scott landed a guest-starring role on “The Good Place.”

According to Entertainment Weekly, Scott will appear in multiple episodes of the new NBC series. The 43-year-old actor will make his series debut in next week’s Season 1, episode 8. Details about his character are being kept under wraps, but below are five potential roles that he could be portraying on the hit afterlife comedy.

1. Michael’s boss

In past episodes, Michael (Ted Danson) mentioned that he has a boss who evaluates his performance as one of the architects in the good place. In fact, one of the reasons he decided to stay in the neighborhood is to prove himself to this certain higher-up. Could the series of disasters on the neighborhood that Michael built and designed force his boss to show up for the first time?

2. Michael’s fellow architect

In the series premiere, Michael told Eleanor (Kristen Bell) that there are other neighborhoods in the good place apart from the one they are living in, so this means that there are also other celestial beings like Michael who work as architects in the good place. Perhaps the problems in Michael’s neighborhood begin to affect other communities, and that leads one of Michael’s colleagues to pay him a visit.

3. Janet’s replacement

Following her “murder” in last night’s episode, Janet’s (D’Arcy Carden) memory was wiped clean. According to Michael, re-uploading all the knowledge in the universe to her system will take a few days, so probably Scott will be playing another Siri-like afterlife guide that will serve as a temporary replacement for Janet.

4. A new resident of the neighborhood

Although it was revealed in the series premiere that every resident of the neighborhood arrived in the good place on the same day, it won’t be a surprise if a new resident turns up in the community given all the unusual events that have happened since day 1.

5. A significant other of one of the neighborhood’s residents

Each episode of “The Good Place” features flashbacks to the mortal lives of one of the neighborhood’s key residents, so it’s possible that Scott will be playing a character with a particular connection to one of the residents. Viewers haven’t met Eleanor’s EMT ex-boyfriend yet, so that’s one of the possible roles that Scott could be playing.

Scott’s casting reunites him with “The Good Place” creator Michael Schur, who co-created NBC’s “Parks and Recreation.” Scott played Ben Wyatt on the political comedy series from 2010 to 2015.

Scott’s “The Good Place” casting also reunites him with Bell, whom he worked with on “Party Down” and “Veronica Mars.”

“The Good Place” Season 1, episode 8, entitled “Most Improved Player,” airs on Thursday, Oct. 27, at 8:30 p.m. on NBC. Check out the synopsis for the episode below:

“Michael has a private meeting with Eleanor. Meanwhile, Chidi (William Jackson Harper), who has been harboring a secret, contemplates what to do.”
