To find out more about the whereabouts of people missing in the Japan Tsunami, Google has introduced a new application called Person Finder.

Similar application was also launched to locate people missing during the earthquakes in Haiti and Christchurch.

Apart from English, the application is also available in Japanese and can be used to inform about missing people during the Japan earthquake.

Earlier, on Friday, an 8.8 magnitude on Richter scale hit Japan triggering a Tsunami that caused widespread destruction in the region. Waves as high as 20 ft high was seen, following the tremor and aftershock.

A number of towns and farms around the city of Sendai in northern Japan are being swallowed, and a four-meter wave has engulfed parts of Kamaishi on the Pacific coast.
