Google eased to the top rank after being rated as number one brand in the UK leading the nation's other 500 brands.

In an annual survey, which was conducted by research firm Superbands, Google was ranked first after collecting views from 1,500 professionals.

Google replaced BBC in the top spot, followed by Microsoft, BP and BBC came in the third and fourth place respectively.

The list reveals the top brands that have the best reputation in UK.

The brands that were listed have established the finest reputation in their fields and make the most impact on the UK business sector, said Stephen Cheliotis, chairman of the Superbrands Council.

The research also involved the views of senior business leaders.

Cheliotis also said that most companies in the top 50 were over 90 years old, demonstrating the power of longevity and familiarity in British business.

The top ten brands listed were:

5: GlaxoSmithKline

6: Rolls-Royce group

7: Financial Times

8: BA

9: Fedex

10: Hertz

Last year, the survey that was conducted by Superbrands, Aston Martin was selected the coolest brand in the UK due to its association with the James Bond films.
