Google was sued over using 'Android' for trademark infringement along with 47 other international corporations.

A software developer and internet applications service provider in the Village of Palatine, Illinois is suing Google, China Mobile, Sprint Nextel, T-Mobile, Vodafone, ARM, Broadcom, Intel, Nvidia, Texas Instruments, Motorola, Open Handset Alliance, Samsung, Toshiba, Wind River to name a few for using the word 'Android'.

The Illinois firm said that the Android names was part of their company's name which is happen to be Android Data for which the firm was granted a trademark in October of 2002 by the US Patent and Trademark Office. In 2007, Google applied for a trademark for Android but had that application denied in February of 2008.

Android Data suit contends that since Google used before receiving the response from the trademark office, “Google stole first and asked questions later.”

The Illinois software firm was requesting $2m in damages for each use of the trademarked term by each defendant.
