Dick Grayson might find his way back to “Gotham” Season 4, according to actor Sean Pertwee. Fox

“Gotham” first introduced Dick Grayson, the man who will eventually embrace the persona of the Robin, during its first season.

It was in the episode, “The Blind Fortune Teller” that fans got a glimpse of the familial backgrounds of Dick and Jerome Valeska, a.k.a. the Joker (Cameron Monaghan). Jerome was presented as a confused young man, while Dick was still nestling peacefully inside his mother’s belly.

Sean Pertwee told Comic Book that Mary Lloyd was pregnant with John Grayson’s child during that episode, and the two got engaged while they were both still working as members of the Flying Graysons in Haly’s Circus. “She was pregnant when we saw her in the circus episode with Jerome, and presumably that’s Robin there in the tummy,” Pertwee said. “We’ll see if that comes back around.”

Pertwee plays butler Alfred Pennyworth in “Gotham,” who is so far doing well being the protector of Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz). But given the chance, Pertwee would love to venture from the small screen to the big screen and be a part of a “Batman” movie. “Absolutely. I would love nothing more than to be involved in a cinematic version. The end of this season when they had the two episodes together, that was almost like a movie and I’d like to see more of that,” he told Screen Rant.

Meanwhile, the Joker comes and goes in the series, much to the disappointment of his fans. But Drew Powell, who used to play Butch Gillian in the series, said that it would be unwise to make the Joker a regular villain the series. “I feel like Jerome is a solo artist. He’s not one to team up with anyone. Early on he had his Maniax, but I think the evolution of that character is he’s a unique psychopath/sociopath, both. So I don’t see any teaming up with Jerome,” he told Cinema Blend. “And that’s part of the deal with him which was interesting; how they kind of had a Jerome section in the middle of our season. And part of that is the actor has another job, and the other part is that character is intense. 22 episodes is a lot of TV... So those characters that are super intense... you can’t use them all the time or it stresses people out. So yeah, I think when Jerome comes, it’s all about Jerome.”

“Gotham” Season 4 will premiere on Sept. 28.
