After announcing the game's release for Sony's PSP in October, Rockstar Games revealed Monday that they'll be taking it to the iPhone and iPod Touch as well.

'Chinatown Wars' is a perfect match for the iPhone and iPod touch, Rockstar president Sam Houser said in the announcement, according to 1UP.

We are very excited to bring this incredibly ambitious version of Liberty City, with this level of detail and immersive gameplay on Apple's new gaming platforms.

Chinatown Wars is currently available on the Nintendo DS. According to Rockstar, it made perfect sense for the handheld title to make its way to Apple's popular iPhone.

Rockstar noted that there will be some textures that will look low-res, compared to the PSP version, but other than that, the game is exactly the same.

Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars follows the story of Huang Lee, a young Triad who travels to Liberty City after the mysterious death of his father. Players navigate their way through the streets as they uncover the truth behind an epic tale of crime and corruption within the Triad crime syndicate, delivering the unprecedented amount of depth that has become a trademark of the Grand Theft Auto franchise.

The addition of Grand Theft Auto to Apple's app store comes as a surprise as the company is famous for its policies against adult-theme material. It recently denied access to Eucalyptus, an e-book reader application, because it allowed users to find and read the Kama Sutra.
