A nationwide recall of 4C Foods Corp was announced Tuesday after the discovery of possible Salmonella contamination. 4C Foods products recalled include 4C Grated Cheese, Cento Grated Cheese Brands and Homestyle Grated Cheese.

The products recalled were packaged in the 6 oz vacuum-sealed glass jars containing “Best By” dates that ranged between Nov. 12, 2016 to Nov. 12, 2018. Other 4C Foods Corp products that contain cheese were not affected by the recall. Retailers have been instructed to remove recalled items from warehouses and shelves.

Salmonella is a bacteria that is estimated to hospitalize around 19,000 people each year and cause 380 deaths, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Those infected with Salmonella can experience abdominal cramps, diarrhea however to diagnosis the illness it requires collecting a stool or blood sample from the ill person.

Customers who return the product back to the place of purchase will receive a full refund. Those with questions or concerns following the recall can reach out to 4C Foods Corp Monday through Friday at 866-969-1920 between 9:30 a.m. ET and 4:30 p.m. ET.

4C Foods is the latest company to recall items after the Good Egg Company LLC voluntarily recalled cartons of eggs due to possible Salmonella contamination on Oct. 3. The company suspected the egg shells were infected by the bacteria and pulled them for shelves.
