Heists will be available to play in “Grand Theft Auto Online” soon, according to in-game source code that was recently leaked by YouTube user DomisLive. Since the promise of the long-awaited feature, many "GTA" fans are spending a significant amount of time digging through the game's source code, hoping to find evidence of the much-anticipated heists.

Earlier this week, DomisLive discussed New York City-based developer Rockstar’s delay in launching heists for open world action game “GTA Online.” The feature was promised in April, and the company has yet to give fans what they want.

In June, the company announced it would release “GTA 5” on the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC sometime during the end of 2014, but no specific launch date was set. Some fans speculated that Rockstar may wait until the PC and eighth-generation console launches so that players will purchase the newer versions of the game. This could be a smart business move since many consumers would have to upgrade to a new console or PC to play heists in “GTA Online.”

DomisLive disagrees. He says he believes heists will come to the last generation of consoles since the Xbox 360 and PS3 hold a significant market share in the games industry. He also predicts Rockstar will deliver on its previous promise since a number of beta leaks of heist missions have appeared online.

Last month, Rockstar apologized for the heists delay on its Newswire.

"For those of you asking about other upcoming 'GTA Online' updates, we have lots more in store coming your way soon," the developer assured players. "We know many fans have been eagerly awaiting the release of the Online Heists that we had planned to release for you this spring, and they are taking more time to create than originally anticipated."

"We are very sorry for the delay, and are working hard to bring them to you as soon as we can. Please know that we are focused as always on making the best possible content for you to play and we are thankful to all of you for your patience, understanding and support.”

“Grand Theft Auto V" launched last October for the Xbox 360 and PS3 and is an open-world action game developed by Rockstar North of Scotland and published by Rockstar Games of New York. “GTA V,” which received highly favorable reviews, was the 15th installment in the “GTA” series and the first game since 2008’s “GTA IV.” The Spike Video Game Awards gave the title the Most Anticipated Game award in 2012. The game won the Game of the Year award at the 2013 Golden Joystick Awards. Only three days after its release, IGN listed “GTA V” as second on its list of “Top 25 Xbox 360 Games.”

“GTA Online” is a dynamic open world game for up to 16 players that is accessed through “Grand Theft Auto 5,” though Rockstar considers “GTA 5” and “GTA Online” as separate games.
