“Guardians of the Galaxy 2” will be a “more emotional movie,” director James Gunn said recently. He also answered some fan questions about the movie on his Facebook page. The director previously stated that the first draft of the script has been completed but production has yet to begin.

Gunn was at the 41st annual Saturn Awards in Burbank, California, recently, where he received the Best Film Director award. According to Collider, he spoke briefly to journalists about his next movie. The director said he has already said a lot about the movie, but added it would be “a more emotional movie” than the original, and viewers would learn a lot more about the fathers of some of the characters. Gunn said the sequel would be “both a bigger movie and a smaller movie” because the plot will focus on some of the characters more intensely.

Fans also will get to hear songs that are a part of “Awesome Mix Vol. 2.” The 2014 movie featured songs from the first volume of the tape.

One character whose background story may be explored further is Rocket Raccoon. Answering a fan question on Facebook, Gunn said Rocket’s background will be explored in the future and new members to the superhero team will also be introduced. Gunn confirmed that there also will be new aliens in his forthcoming movie and said Yondu, played by Michael Rooker, will be an important part of the sequel. One character who may not be featured in the movie is the Collector, played by Benicio Del Toro.

Speaking to IGN, Del Toro said that he had a “blast” working with Gunn and the other cast members of the 2014 movie. However, he said that it was up to Gunn whether he would return for the sequel.
