It’s almost time for Halloween, and that means couples need to start working on their costumes. While doctor and nurse or devil and angel are classics, a pop culture costume is always fun. Look to your favorite TV couples for Halloween inspiration this year.

“Outlander” — Jamie and Claire

Jamie (Sam Heughan) must have red hair and a kilt. The top has a little more wiggle room. You can go with just a white shirt, or you can add a vest or jacket. A sword would be a good prop, but it’s not a necessity.

Those dressing up as Claire (Caitriona Balfe) will need a dress. While you don’t have to go all out with the corset and bustle, you should make sure to keep covered. The dress should definitely be long, and Scottish weather often always has Claire bundling up with arm warmers and scarves. Remember, Claire wears a wedding rings on each hand.

Be sure to stick to earth tones for both characters. With the exception of their time in Paris, Jamie and Claire are usually seen in browns, greens and blues. Hot Topic’s new line might come in handy for women looking for dark tartan.

“The Flash” — Barry and Iris

Iris (Candice Patton) is the easier costume here. You can just slip on a blazer or any type of business casual outfit and carry a reporter’s notebook. You can add a press badge with her name and Central City Picture News if you’re worried people won’t recognize the costume.

For Barry Allen (Grant Gustin), there are two options. The first is to go all out and buy a Flash costume. However, if you’re looking for something easier and cheaper, you can do the “Clark Kent” method. Dress up in Barry’s normal clothing with a button down shirt open to reveal a Flash t-shirt underneath. It’s not exactly a replica, but your friends will recognize the character.

“Big Bang Theory” — Sheldon and Amy

Anyone dressing up as Sheldon (Jim Parsons) will need dark hair (remember hair color spray can sometimes be better than a wig) and a nerdy t-shirt. His Flash top is particularly recognizable, but any superhero would suffice. Layer a long sleeved shirt underneath and pair with jeans. Amy (Mayim Bialik) should have glasses, a sweater and a skirt that hits at least her knees. Pair with sensible shoes.

“Gilmore “Girls” — Luke and Lorelai

With the revival coming to Netflix on Nov. 25, it’s the perfect time to revisit this couple. For Luke (Scott Patterson), you’ll need a backwards baseball cap (preferably blue), a flannel shirt and jeans. Be sure to hold either a coffee pot or a notepad for orders. Lorelai (Lauren Graham) will need dark hair and a cup of coffee in her hand. Her clothes aren’t too distinctive, but if you want to go for an iconic look, try the pink t-shirt, denim shorts, trench coat and cowboy boots from the episode with Rory's (Alexis Bledel) first day at Chilton.

“Orphan Black” — Alison and Donnie

Hair is pretty important for the “Orphan Black” clones, so you’ll definitely want straight dark hair with bangs. Alison (Tatiana Maslany), the soccer mom clone, is a big fan of pink, so jeans and a pink cardigan would be perfect. Be sure to add a cross necklace and maybe a glue gun if you feel like carrying a prop. Meanwhile, Donnie (Kristian Bruun) can be pretty casual as well. Try wearing a bright pink “Elect Alison Hendrix for School Trustee” over a collared shirt.

“The 100” — Clarke and Lexa

Sadly, one half of this couple was killed off earlier this year, but Lexa (Alycia Dabnam Carey) lives on in the hearts of fans. Clarke (Eliza Taylor) is pretty easy. You’ll need blonde hair, a leather jacket and some dark boots. While Clarke has a pretty casual look, Lexa tends to look more ready for a fight. Over dark clothing, attach just the shoulder pads of a knight’s armour. Add fingerless gloves, any sort of cuff bracelet on the arms and attach a fake dagger to the belt.

Clarke’s blonde hair can be down or partially pulled back, but Lexa’s hair should definitely be half pulled back. Check out tutorials if you want an exact replica of her hairdo. Lexa should also have plenty of eye makeup. Spray some water over the makeup to naturally get that messy look.
