Dinner is almost served! NBC’s “Hannibal” has been whetting fans’ appetites for Season 3 for months, via tantalizing teasers and promo posters. Well, it is about time for the main course. The season premiere airs Thursday, June 4, and the show just released a lengthy preview video for the new episodes highlighting Hannibal (Mads Mikkelsen) and Bedelia’s (Gillian Anderson) new life in Italy – including some deadly dinner parties.

Here are four things we learned from the “Hannibal” Season 3 preview trailer:

1. Hannibal’s new life is glamorous. Fans have known for a while that Hannibal would be in Italy at the start of Season 3. However, the preview gives the most extensive look at the killer’s new life in Florence. It reveals that Dr. Lecter has assumed the identity of a man he is presumed to have murdered and Bedelia is playing the role of Hannibal’s wife. The pair seem to be living it up in Italy, attending lavish balls and hosting fancy dinner parties. However, the menu might be a bit disconcerting! When Hannibal tells one unsuspecting “friend” that “me and my wife would love to have you for dinner,” you have to wonder what kind of party he has in store.

2. Bedelia will be pushed to the limit. With Hannibal up to his old tricks in Italy, Bedelia seems to be getting more firsthand experience with her patient’s dark side than ever before. Hannibal asks his new bride, “Are you observing or participating?” That will be the question the psychiatrist will have to answer as her obsession with Lecter turns dangerous.

3. Richard Armitage was surprised. While Bedelia, the character, might be in over her head with Hannibal, Richard Armitage (“The Hobbit”), the actor, did not seem to know what he was getting into when he signed on to play Francis Dolarhyde, aka the Red Dragon. Arbitage says in the preview that he was not familiar with the character until getting the role and reading Thomas Harris' novel “Red Dragon.” Arbitage’s character is a schizophrenic serial killer who murders entire families, so it must have been quite a shock when the actor realized what the role would require.

4. Will forgives Hannibal. Though the first half of Season 3 will focus on Hannibal and Bedelia’s relationship, Will (Hugh Dancy) will be searching for the serial killer. It looks like he will find him too, as he is shown in a dark tunnel whispering to Hannibal, “I forgive you.” After the carnage of the Season 2 finale, can their relationship be repaired?
