Heavy Rains Kill 90, Strand 150,000 In Bangladesh
At least 90 people have been killed by heavy rains and attendant landslides in southeastern Bangladesh. Another 150,000 people have becomes stranded by massive flooding.
Officials in Chittagong, the second largest city in the country, said the monsoon rains witnessed this year have been the worst in years. In a single 12-hour period, Chittagong was smashed with almost sixteen inches of rain.
The inclement weather has frustrated rescue efforts, while air and rail transport to Chittagong have been suspended.
