Herman Cain, the former CEO of Godfather's Pizza who has risen to become a leading Republican candidate for president, reported strong fundraising for October, raising $5 million.

The value was more than the last three months combined, coinciding with Cain's ascension in the Republican race. From July through September, the campaign reported donations of $2.8 million, including a $175,000 loan from Cain.

We've actually doubled in a little over a month, and that's what we're seeing in our grassroots activism growth, Mark Block, Cain's chief of staff, told CNN.

The campaign recently issued a web ad that featured Block speaking and then smoking a cigarette, which has been viewed more than one million times on YouTube.

On Thursday, Independent presidential candidate Terry Jones said that he supported Cain and would endorse Cain if his own campaign didn't work out.
