A self-proclaimed “high elf engaged in battle with the evil Morgoth” brandished a sword and attacked a woman’s car in Oregon last week.

The victim mistook 22-year-old Konrad Bass, who allegedly admitted to police that he was on LSD, for “a pirate” when she called 911 to report the incident Tuesday, Portland television station KATU reported Friday. The woman’s car, a red BMW, was attacked by the sword-wielding man, who was arrested on criminal mischief charges and taken to a local hospital.

“Morgoth” was a reference to a character from the “Lord of the Rings” author J.R.R. Tolkien. Morgoth is said to be a character from where all evil stems from in Middle Earth, the fictional universe created by Tolkien.

Bass, of Glendale, Oregon, was wearing chain mail, a helmet, shield and carrying a sword and staff when he darted into traffic and started assaulting the woman’s car, according to KATU. He told police that he wasn’t a pirate, but a “high-elf engaged in the battle with the evil Morgoth.” The car suffered puncture wounds.
