Mike Comrie, former NHL star and the former husband of Hilary Duff, has been accused of raping a woman and is currently under investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department, TMZ reported late Tuesday. However, Comrie claims that he and the woman had consensual sex.

The woman claimed in her report against Comrie that she met the 36-year-old at a bar Saturday night and later went with him to his West Los Angeles condo. The woman alleged that Comrie raped her multiple times following which she went to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, and a rape kit was administered, law enforcement sources told TMZ.

According to sources close to Comrie, the Canadian retired professional ice hockey center knew the woman for a long time and the relationship that developed between them was consensual. TMZ also reported that a second woman was also present with them.

Comrie has not given a statement to the police so far, TMZ reported.

Comrie got married to Duff in 2010 after dating for three years. The duo, who have a son Luca Cruz Comrie, announced their separation in 2014. Duff filed for divorce from Comrie in 2015, citing irreconcilable differences. Their divorce was finalized in February 2016.

During an appearance on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show," Duff spoke about their "great" co-parenting, saying: "We have an amazing son. And we're both so obsessed with him... We are good friends and we laugh a lot and we have a great communication."

She added: "We share pictures when one is not with Luca and yeah, he's great, we are great and we keep on trucking."

While talking about her divorce with Comrie, Duff said in November 2016 that the two were amicable: “But we got together based on love and we separated in a very loving way. I can’t imagine going through that process with anyone but him, and he continues to be my very good friend. That’s honestly speaking from my heart. So, I think we handled it very consciously and with a lot of love. But marriage is sacred and marriage is not for everyone. Marriage is work. Marriage is really hard.”
