'How I Met Your Mother' and 'Forgetting Sarah Marshall' star Jason Segel revealed in an interview that he would love to star in a movie with none other than Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. Well Clinton responded to Segel's proposal...with a rejection letter.
The actor said he wanted star in a comedy with the Secretary of State in an interview with US Weekly.
I just feel like she would be good at comedy, said the 32-year-old actor. I think you can feel it from a mile away.
Segel said in the interview that he already as a title for the project: 'Sarah Marshall 2: This Time It's Personal.'
Clinton replied to the actor's request with a note last month, which Segel revealed during his appearance on the 'Late Night With Jimmy Fallon' program last week.
Every time I'm on the red carpet and they ask, 'Who's the mother going to be?' Segel explained to Jimmy Fallon according to US Weekly. I always say Hillary Clinton as a joke.
Yet Clinton, 64, heard about Segel's request.
I got a letter in the mail that said, 'I appreciate your request, but I must say I'm very busy doing politics. But if the opportunity ever arises, I would be happy to do something together. [Signed] Hillary Clinton, he said during the interview.
Dear Mr. Segel:
I was delighted to read about your interest in sharing the big screen with me. As you can imagine, I am a little occupied at the moment, but perhaps someday I can help you forget Sarah Marshall...again. My only condition is that there be Muppets involved, and that is non-negotiable. In the meantime, you have my best wishes for continued success with your career.
She signed the note 'with best regards, I am sincerely yours, Hillary.
Clinton has made headlines recently after pictures surfaced of her enjoying a beer and dancing with her female colleagues while in Colombia on White House business.
She submitted a picture of her texting with the caption ROFL @ ur tumblr! g2g - scrunchie time. ttyl? Clinton even met with founders of the blog Adam Smith and Stacy Lambe briefly, reported the Washington Post.
The meeting was brief but great, said Smith. She was very friendly and gracious and she told us how much she liked the site.
She also autographed a printout of the meme, writing Adam - Thanks for the many lolz. Hillary 'Hillz.' The founders have since stopped making memes about Clinton.
Segel is currently starring in 'The Five Year Engagement' with Emily Blunt in theaters now.
