The winter holidays are right around the corner, and this could be a good opportunity to help a book lover get into a new series -- or two. Here are some of the bestselling book box sets from Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

The Hunger Games trilogy by Suzanne Collins

This box set could not be timelier. The trailer for the movie -- which hits U.S. theaters on March 2012 -- was unveiled earlier this month and promises a thrilling adventure. The series is aimed at teenage readers, but adults have enjoyed them as well.

Millenium series by Stieg Larsson

This would be another timely pick for adult readers. The Hollywood film adaptation of the first book in the series, The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, will be released in theaters on Dec. 21. The box set contains the three published books of the unfinished series.

The Diary of a Wimpy Kid series by Jeff Kinney

Kinney's series have made for immensely popular reading with the elementary school demographic. The most updated box set contains the first five books in the series, while other box sets contain the first four books. The sixth book in the series, Cabin Fever, came out on Nov. 15.

Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling

The seven books of the completed series are available in hardcover and paperback box sets, so newcomers won't have to wait years for that next book, unlike their predecessors.

Inheritance Cycle series by Christopher Paolini

Paolini's fantasy series about a young boy with a dragon ended earlier this month with the publication of the fourth and final book, Inheritance. All four books are available in a box set, although there are box sets that contain only the first three books.

The Twilight Saga by Stephenie Meyer

Breaking Dawn: Part 1 has made a splash in movie theaters. The second part of the film adaptaion doesn't come out until November 2012, which gives readers plenty of time to catch up on the completed story. All four books are available in a box set.

Song of Ice and Fire series by George R.R. Martin

Five of the seven books in this series have been published. Some box sets contain the five published books, while others contain the first four.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians series by Rick Riordan

All five novels in this series -- which is aimed at a younger demographic -- have been published and are available in a box set.
