It’s the perfect time of the year to watch scary movies! While TV networks like Freeform and AMC will be airing the horror flick classics throughout the month of October, there are a handful of new films hitting theaters that are bound to make you jump out of your seat. Grab some popcorn and get ready to scream … just in time for Halloween!

“Blair Witch” (September 16)

“Blair Witch,” the sequel to the 1999 horror flick has been in theaters for a couple weeks now. If you haven’t seen it yet, now is your chance. The story is about a man who goes searching for his sister, who disappeared 17 years prior. It’s believed that her disappearance has something to do with the Blair Witch, a dark presence that haunts the woods.

“Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children” (September 30)

“Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children” isn’t exactly scary, but other movies by director Tim Burton are staples for the Halloween season. If you like Burton’s style then definitely check out this new flick, based on a series of books by author Ransom Riggs.

“Tyler Perry’s Boo! A Madea Halloween” (October 21)

Tyler Perry’s latest installment in the Madea franchise isn’t scary, but it will still get you inn the Halloween spirit.

“Ouija: Origin of Evil” (October 21)

The first “Ouija” movie came out in 2014 and scared viewers. This time around the movie is set in 1965 and tells the story of a young girl who becomes possessed after a séance gone wrong.
