House of Cards
Talks of replacing Kevin Spacey in “House of Cards” Season 6 have begun to surface on social media. Netflix

The future of the Netflix political drama “House of Cards” became pretty bleak after Kevin Spacey was accused by several individuals of sexual misconduct, and many of the show’s fans were heartbroken to know that it was cancelled.

However, there is still a sixth season to be hopeful for. In order to save the show, Netflix and producer Media Rights Capital (MRC) fired Spacey from the show. So now fans are asking - will Spacey’s character, Frank Underwood, be killed off? Or would he be replaced by another actor?

If it’s the latter, fans have some great suggestions. Many think “The Sound of Music” star Christopher Plummer would make a great Frank Underwood, or a replacement for Spacey in general.

However, if the publication ELLE had its way, another “The Sound of Music” star would replace Frank - Julie Andrews.

Meanwhile, Variety earlier reported that MRC is currently working on multiple ideas for a potential “House of Cards” spinoff.

They are currently in the early stages of development, and so far, ideas have started forming around Doug Stamper (Michael Kelly), the political aide-de-camp of Frank. Eric Roth, who served as an executive producer for the first four seasons of “House of Cards,” is set to write the script.

Spacey’s woes began after he was accused by actor Anthony Rapp, 46, of sexual misconduct dating back to 1986. Rapp, who was 14 then while Spacey was 26, claimed that Spacey harassed him at a party when he was carried “up like a groom picks up the bride over the threshold.”

“But I don’t, like, squirm away initially, because I’m like, ‘What’s going on?’ And then he lays down on top of me,” Rapp told Buzz Feed.

In response, Spacey said he was “beyond horrified” by the story since he could not even remember the encounter. He apologized to Rapp and later confessed that he was gay. “I have loved and had romantic relationships with men throughout my life, and I choose now to live as a gay man,” he said.

After Rapp’s confession, several crew members of “House of Cards” accused Spacey of “predatory” behavior on set, and many men have also come forward with their own abuse stories.
