It’s official — ABC’s “Thank God It’s Thursday” (TGIT) is back in full effect, which means all new episodes of “How To Get Away With Murder.” The show took a nearly three month hiatus in November, putting its drama-filled second season on ice temporarily. In the fall finale “HTGAWM” tied up loose ends, answering many questions fans had been harboring since early on — like who shot Annalise (Viola Davis).

Season 2, episode 9 put the spotlight on ADA Emily Sinclair (Sarah Burns), who has been stirring the pot for the Keating five since her introduction to the show. Early in the episode she visits with Nate (Billy Brown) to discuss his involvement in the Hapstall murder case. Emily accuses Nate of tampering with evidence which angers Nate, who is already facing jail time for the murder of Sam Keating in Season 1. Emily later meets with Asher (Matt McGorry), whom she was in cahoots with early in the season. The duo planned to take Annalise down together using testimony from Asher in favor of immunity in a potential gang rape that took place earlier in his life. Emily taunts Asher, who has since decided not to cooperate, about his father’s suicide. She attacks his character, which infuriates Asher enough to mow her down with his car.

The young hopeful lawyer sits in shock for a few moments, trying to fully grasp what just happened. He quickly realizes he can’t leave her body in the parking garage and calls on-again, off-again girlfriend Bonnie (Liza Wiel) for advice. She agrees to help and reaches out to Annalise for further guidance. The Middleton University professor racks her brain for ideas before deciding that the best possible move is to pin the murder on someone who is already (probably) guilty — her client, Catherine Hapstall (Amy Okuda).

Annalise tells her team they’re going to stage it to look as though Catherine killed Emily after returning home from “running away.” The Keating five seem confused as to how any of this makes sense, which frustrates Annalise. She reminds them that it’s the job of the jury to “make sense” of cases, not theirs. They just need it to be believable enough. With that, they head over to the Hapstall mansion where chaos ensues. After bringing Emily’s body into the house Annalise gets on the phone with 911. She fake sobs while telling the dispatcher that she’s been she’s been shot by Catherine. Annalise makes sure to say that Emily was there was well, though she makes no mention of her condition. After hanging up the phone she urges one of the members of her devious crew to shoot her in the leg. They're all reluctant, including Wes — at least, until Annalise opens her mouth again.

In the hopes that she can inspire Wes, known as the puppy of the Keating Five, to shoot her, Annalise confesses something shocking about his former girlfriend, Rebecca — she's dead and Annalise ordered the hit. She admits to lying about her having run away, which gives him just the fuel he needs to pull the trigger, firing a bullet into her stomach. Wes stands over her body in anger, at which time she whispers "Christoph, Christoph," Wes' birth name.

The "HTGAWM" winter premiere airs Thursday, Feb. 11 at 10 p.m. EST on ABC.
