We finally found out who is #UnderTheSheet in the Season 3 mid-season finale of ABC’s “How To Get Away With Murder.” And no, it wasn’t Annalise Keating’s (Viola Davis) ex-boyfriend Nate Lahey (Billy Brown) or trigger-happy Frank Delfino (Charlie Weber).
Wes Gibbins (Alfred Enoch) was the unidentified male who died in the fire. An explosion rocked Annalise’s house before firefighters arrived on the scene. Mysteriously, Season 3, episode 9 only showed Nate and Laurel (Karla Souza) entering the house, not Wes. Furthermore, Nate told his ex-girlfriend that Wes died before the fire burned her house to a crisp.
Three mysteries remained unsolved in “HTGAWM.” The first is what happened to Wes after he left the police station? Did he even go to Annalise’s house? The second mystery is who set the house in fire? There was no fire in the house when Nate entered it. The third unsolved mystery is whether Wes really is the father of Laurel’s unborn child. Frank did spend a night with her in her apartment after all.
We also don’t know who was the anonymous source that gave evidence against Annalise.
The series’ executive producer and creator, Peter Nowalk, told TVLine, “In the first episode back, we’ll see what happened to Wes after he left the police station. We won’t get all the answers, but slowly, we’ll be pulling back the curtain. We’d been doing flash-forwards, and now we’ll be doing flashbacks. And by the end of the season, if not earlier, we’ll find out what actually happened to him and who killed him.”
Regarding the person who gave evidence against Annalise, Nowalk revealed, “They said they had an anonymous source, but Wes never signed the agreement — so does that mean there’s someone else? That’s a big question in our first episode back, and we’ll get an answer to that that is really shocking.”
Additionally, Nowalk told TVGuide that the first episode of the second half of Season 3 will finally reveal who is the father of Laurel’s baby. We will also get to see Wes in flashbacks, Meggy (Corbin Reid), President Hargrove (Lauren Luna Velez) and Annalise’s parents.
“How To Get Away With Murder” Season 3 returns Thursday, Jan. 19 at 10 p.m. EST on ABC.
