Facebook Timeline was released Thursday for users around the world.

The new Facebook is a major shift from previous changes. Facebook pages will now be organized in a timeline format, which allows friends, family members and stalkers to check out your history from birth to present day.

If you have not already activated your Facebook Timeline account, we give you three easy steps to make the switch.

1. Go to Facebook's Introducing Timeline page.

2. Select Get It Now in the bottom right hand corner of the screen.

3. Voila! Sign into your account and your Facebook should pop up with the new Timeline format.

As you will see, Facebook will not immediately publish your new page. Instead, the company is giving users seven days to explore the new format, update their privacy settings and add or delete information that they do or do not wish to be displayed on the new Facebook page.

The new format has been well received by some, while others shun the changes and have deactivated their accounts. Facebook Timeline is especially startling for users who have used the social networking site for many years, but may not remember what they posted in high school or college. Many users have purged their accounts of unwanted pictures, posts and uploads before activating the new Facebook Timeline.

In seven days, all Facebooks will be in the Timeline format so you might as well hop on board as soon as possible and update your Facebook so it is arranged to best represent you when it meets the world.
