Twitter users can now broadcast live video from within the service’s mobile apps, thanks to Periscope. On Wednesday, Periscope and Twitter announced an integration of the two services that brings live video broadcasting to Twitter’s iOS and Android apps.

How To Go Live On Twitter

To start a broadcast on Twitter, tap the button to compose a new tweet and then tap “live.” From there you can start broadcasting your live video. During the broadcast, viewers who see your broadcast on their feed can tap in, comment and send hearts.

Twitter acquired Periscope in 2015, and has worked to integrate both services. In fact, just earlier this year, the company added the ability to watch Periscope live streams within Twitter’s app.

Twitter has been looking to bring live broadcasts to Twitter for quite some time. The company started testing the “Go Live” button in its Android application.

“We started Periscope because we wanted to give people the superpower to share live video with an audience. Bringing this capability directly into the Twitter app is an important step because it brings that superpower to the hundreds of millions of people who use Twitter,” said Kayvon Beykpour, CEO of Periscope, in a statement. “Twitter’s already the place where people go to see what’s happening. With this update, anyone can now broadcast what’s happening live.”

The company says the new broadcast feature will be available to all users on iOS and Android in the coming days.
