“How I Met Your Mother” fans are on season nine spoiler overload this week. Following the announcement that filming for the final season will begin on Wednesday, the title of episode two has leaked online.
So, what’s the title? According to SpoilerTV.com, it’s called “Coming Back.” Unfortunately, no episode description accompanied the title news. However, taking a look back at the season eight finale it’s easy to hypothesize what “coming back” could be referring to.
For those who don’t remember, the “How I Met Your Mother” crew had to make some serious life-changing decisions in the finale, “Something New.” Barney and Robin were about to walk down the aisle, Ted was going to secretly move to Chicago, and Marshall had to decide on whether he should support his wife’s career in Italy or take a job as a judge in New York City. The episode two title could be about any of those situations:
- Barney and Robin could be “coming back” from their honeymoon -- and finding actual married life difficult.
- Ted might actually follow through on his flight to Chicago, but a phone call or email from Cristin Millioti’s mother might have him “coming back” to New York.
- Marshall may have decided to not tell Lily about the judge job offer and the trio could have actually moved to Italy. However, it’s possible that while overseas Lily might have discovered Marshall’s secret and packed up the family to “come back” to NYC.
Earlier this week, TVLine.com reported that the first episode of the season was set to be called “The Locket.” The premiere will supposedly introduce a new female character named Camille, who has an unfortunate run-in with Marshall.
Camille is described as an African-American or Latina woman in her 30s or 40s and will sit next to Marshall on his flight from Minnesota to New York City. The flight won’t go smoothly, and a confrontation due to Marshall’s erratic behavior will result in both of them being escorted off the plane.
“How I Met Your Mother” will return for its ninth and final season with a special hour-long episode on Sept. 23 at 8 p.m.
