Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are rumored to be engaged, but it seems that they really aren’t.

But even though Markle has not yet given her boyfriend a resounding yes, this does not mean that they aren’t working towards building a future with each other. In fact, Markle has decided to leave “Suits” so she could relocate to London for her humanitarian work. Since Prince Harry is also in London, the couple will have an easier time seeing each other.

People recently revealed how fans of the couple could learn if they are already engaged and said that the announcement will come from the palace. Unless a rep from the Kensington Palace confirms the engagement, all reports about it can be considered speculation.

The publication also noted that if Markle and Prince Harry are already engaged, they might have decided to keep things as private as possible. This means that only their closest friends and family members know the truth at the moment.

This could be a possibility because Markle only confirmed that she and Prince Harry are dating last September. The actress herself revealed that she and Prince Harry have been dating for a couple of months before they decided to share the news to the public. But even before she confirmed the status of their relationship, there have been reports that the two are dating.

In the end, the first official announcement will still come from the palace and not necessarily from Markle or Prince Harry. A similar thing happened with Prince William and Kate Middleton. There have been multiple reports that they were engaged, but on the morning of Nov. 16, 2010, it was the palace that released the announcement.

Soon after the announcement was made, Prince William and Middleton attended a photo call at St. James. They also sat down for an interview with Sky News (via People), which marked the first time the public heard Middleton speak. During the conversation, Prince William revealed that he asked Middleton to marry him in October while they were vacationing in Kenya.

If and when Markle and Prince Harry get engaged, the couple will most likely also reveal when the prince popped the question.
