HTC 10 was unveiled to the world last week. The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 that was launched in August last year is one of the major rivals of HTC's 2016 flagship smartphone. Here is a comparison between the HTC 10 and Galaxy Note 5 on the basis of their specifications, features and price.

Design and Display

The HTC 10 sports a metal unibody design and it measures 145.9 x 71.9 x 9 mm. It weighs 161 grams and comes in color options like gray, silver, gold and red.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 sports a design that is similar to that of Galaxy S6. It features a metallic frame sandwiched between glass panels on its front and rear sides. The phablet measures 153.2 x 76.1 x 7.6 mm and weighs 171 grams. It comes in color choices such as black, gold, silver and white.

The HTC 10 has a Super LCD 5 technology-driven 5.2-inch Quad HD screen and offers a screen-to-body ratio of 71.1 percent. The Galaxy Note 5 has a Quad HD resolution supporting 5.7-inch Super AMOLED screen. It delivers an impressive screen-to-body ratio of 75.9 percent. Both the screens are protected by Gorilla Glass 4.

Chipset, Storage and RAM

The Snapdragon 820 SoC, the most powerful chipset from Qualcomm, powers the HTC 10 along with 4 GB of RAM. It is available in storage options like 32 GB and 64 GB. On its dedicated memory card slot, users can add up to 2 TB of microSD card.

The Galaxy Note 5 is powered by Samsung Exynos 7420 SoC and 4 GB of RAM. It does not feature a microSD card slot but comes in multiple storage choices of 32 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB.

Camera, Software and Other Features

The HTC 10 has 12-megapixel shooter on its rear panel that is enabled with features like dual-LED flash, OIS and laser autofocus. The Note 5 has a 16-megapixel rear camera that is enabled with single LED flash and OIS. Both the smartphones feature 5-megapixel frontal cameras, but the one present on HTC 10 carries support for OIS.

The HTC 10 comes preinstalled with Sense 8 UI placed over Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS. The Galaxy Note 5 comes with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OS that is modified with TouchWiz UI from Samsung.

Both the smartphones house fingerprint readers. The HTC 10 has a pair of dual speakers on its front panel. It also features a USB-Type C port. The USP of Galaxy Note 5 is the S-Pen stylus. It is also packed with health sensors for SpO2 and heart rate.

Battery and Price

The HTC 10 is packed with a 3000 mAh battery whereas the Note 5’s 3000 mAh battery supports wireless charging. The starting price of the unlocked HTC 10 is $699 whereas the 32 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB models of the unlocked Galaxy Note 5 are priced at $550, $729, and $899, respectively, on Amazon.
