Hurricane Jimena gained strength overnight becoming a Category 4 hurricane with sustained winds of about 135 miles per hour, according to the National Hurricane center.

Jimena is an extremely dangerous Category 4 hurricane and is expected to strengthen further during the next 24 hours, the NHC said Sunday morning.

Jimena is located about 285 miles south of Cabo Corrientes, Mexico. It is moving northwest at about 9 mph, towards the Baja California region, the NHC said.

Jimena is the 20th named storm of the Pacific season.

The next advisory will be issued by the NHC at 5:00 p.m. EST.
