Although people may be just recognizing Teyana Taylor’s talent, her husband Iman Shumpert knew all along that his wife was a star. Following her performance on “VH1 Divas Holiday: Unsilent Night” and Kanye West’s “Fade” music video, Taylor has been receiving more attention from the media.

“Its wild funny how people tell me Im lucky cuz my wife is finally gettin acknowledged for being great. I was lucky when y'all was sleep,” Shumpert tweeted Tuesday. His wife took the stage on the VH1 special on Monday night and performed a rendition of Eartha Kitt’s “Santa Baby” while wearing a white sequined jumpsuit paired with a red corset and red hair.

Prior to the air date of the show, the 25-year-old mother of one shared her excitement about her performance on Instagram. “Y'all ready?? I can't wait for y'all to see my performance, make sure you tune in tonight at 9pm on VH1!!!” she wrote as a caption attached to a photo of a poster promoting the special.

Taylor's initial notoriety came after showing off her post-baby body in Kanye West’s “Fade” music video, which premiered during the MTV Video Music Awards in August. She garnered even more attention when she told Vogue that despite her amazing body, she skips the gym and doesn’t eat healthy. “My diet sucks. I eat pizza, fried chicken, macaroni; I don’t eat vegetables. But I dance!” she said.

Taylor recently revealed that she was close to West following the successful video and told “Good Day New York” that the rapper was in her thoughts following his “psychotic episode” last month. “I don't know too many details about what's going on," she admitted.

"I reached out. Of course everyone is worried. I checked in on him. Sent him my blessings. Sent him my love. That's really it. Give him his space. It's not really for a response. As long as he knows that we're all here in his corner, that's all that really matters,” Taylor stated.
