Indian Railways' total approximate earnings on originating basis increased 7.73 percent to 520.60 billion rupees during April 1, 2010, to October 31, 2010, as compared to 483.23 billion rupees during the same period last year, said the Railways ministry on Thursday.

The total goods earnings have increased 6.70 percent to 346.29 billion rupees during the period as compared to 324.53 billion rupees corresponding period a year earlier.

The total passenger revenues increased 9.13 percent to 148.70 billion rupees during the first seven months of the financial year 2010-11 as compared to 136.26 billion rupees during the same period last year.

The revenues from other coaching increased 10.29 percent to 14.53 billion rupees as compared to 13.17 billion rupees the same period last year.

The total approximate number of passenger bookings increased 5.88 percent to 4.57 billion as compared to 4.31 billion.

In the suburban and non-suburban sectors, the number of passengers bookings increased 5.36 percent and 6.43 percent to 2.33 billion and 2.23 billion respectively as compared to 2.21 billion and 2.10 billion during the same period last year.
