Initial jobless claims rise by 35K
The number of Americans filing for unemployment claims climbed to a seasonally-adjusted 445,000 for the week ended January 8, a 35,000 increase from the prior week’s revised figure of 410,000.
The Department of Labor also said that the four-week moving average was 416,500, an increase of 5,500 from the previous week's revised average of 411,000.
