2012 has begun with a bang for the jailbreak community - the much-anticipated iOS 5 untethered jailbreak for A5 devices (iPad 2 and iPhone 4S) has finally been released by the dream team.

@p0sixninja, best know as Joshua Hill, broke the silence on Friday, Jan. 20, saying OSX version of A5 jailbreak posted on greenpois0n.com.

A few minutes ago, the French hacker also said on his blog, As @p0sixninja mentioned, the iPhone 4S / iPad 2 jailbreak is out. Mac OSX version first, windows version will follow quick.

As the greenpois0n blog is under heavy load, pod2g said it is because it's indeed out.

@p0sixninja told a way to fix that issue, he tweeted, If the Absinthe webclip shows 'Error establishing a database connection', please go to Settings, turn on VPN and wait instead.

The VPN connection will give an error. This is normal. A reboot should happen a few moments after the error, he explained.

@p0sixninja suggests users to just reboot and redo the jailbreak if they have problems.

Just a few hours ago, both pod2g and MuscleNerd said the new jailbreak tool will be released soon and posted the details of the new A5 jailbreak tool on their own blogs.

Here is the complete list of Absinthe supported devices :
