Some Chinese online retailers are offering spurious editions of Apple Inc.'s (NASDAQ: AAPL) latest iPhone 6 to customers eager to get their hands on the company's newest smartphone amid reports that Apple may have delayed its launch on the mainland, the company's second-largest market in the world.

The "special Macau edition" is being offered at a 1,000-yuan ($163) premium by one retailer who has been present on online platform Taobao for over seven years, South China Morning Post reported on Friday.

Apple released its first larger-screen models -- the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus -- on Tuesday to great fanfare. The phones will be available in silver, gold and space gray, CEO Tim Cook has said.

Another Chinese vendor is reportedly offering customized editions available in pink, yellow, blue and other colors, although Apple has no such versions, the newspaper reported, citing a customer service employee from the company.
