When Season 3 of “iZombie” premieres this April, Liv (Rose McIver) is no longer the only zombie who will be taking on characteristics from brains, as Major (Robert Buckley) is going to start sharing that duty with his former fiancée.

In fact, Liv and Major are going to be on complementary brains as early as episode 2. According to TVLine, the on-again, off-again lovers eat the brains of a father and daughter. But the twist is that Major eats the brains of the teenage daughter, while Liv eats the brains of the dad.

During the show’s panel at the Television Critics Association winter press tour last weekend, Buckley recalled the time he found out that he’s taking on the traits of a belligerent teen girl next season. “They had told me in the off-season, ‘We have a great episode for you. It’s perfect for you,’” Nerdist quoted Buckley as saying. “As an actor, that’s exciting, like is he going to be a cage fighter or a lothario? They were like, ‘No, for you, a 14-year-old teenage girl.’”

“It wasn’t a stretch at all. That’s just who I am,” the 35-year-old actor joked. “But then to try and balance Major who is quite a dude bro, he’s a man, with a 14-year-old girl, like be super hot but also freezing cold at the same time, it’s very challenging. It’s not easy at all.”

Season 3 is a season of change for Major because aside from taking on different characteristics from brains week after week, the former zombie hunter also gets a new job in the new season. According to the synopsis for Season 3, Major becomes a member of Fillmore Grave’s zombie army where he surprisingly finds acceptance.

The 13-episode Season 3 of “iZombie” will debut with a two-hour premiere on Tuesday, April 4 at 8 p.m. EST on The CW before moving to its regular time slot at 9 p.m. EST following new episodes of “The Flash.”
