Today is a sad day for the Osbourne family. Jack Osbourne, son of Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne and upcoming contestant on “Dancing With the Stars,” has lost his unborn child to a miscarriage, according to his wife’s most recent blog post.

Lisa Osbourne, the reality TV star's 26-year-old wife of nearly two years, announced the baby boy’s passing on her “Raddest Mom" blog Thursday, confirming the miscarriage occurred last week during her third trimester of pregnancy. “I have been dreading this announcement,” wrote Osbourne. “Having a late-term miscarriage is by the far the hardest thing either of us has ever had to go through… It’s important to stay hopeful and optimistic through life’s toughest moments,” she said.

The couple, who welcomed their first child, daughter Pearl, in April 2012, requested privacy. “We appreciate all of your prayers and ask for privacy and respect during this time… We never know why things like this happen. All we can do is trust in God and know he has a plan for our lives,” wrote Osbourne.

The couple first announced they were expecting a second bundle of joy on Lisa’s blog in early August during her second trimester. “Feeling great and trying not to eat everything in sight,” wrote Osbourne. “We feel so blessed that our family is growing and Pearl will have a little brother or sister to play with. It’s crazy to think that we will soon be a family of four!”

On Wednesday ABC announced that 27-year-old Osbourne, a former star of MTV reality series “The Osbournes,” would be a contestant on season 17 of “Dancing With the Stars.”
