Jada Pinkett Smith is keeping things straight regarding her ties with Scientology.

Earlier this week, former parishioner Leah Remini told The Daily Beast that Smith is a member of the church. “I know Jada’s in. I know Jada’s in. She’s been in Scientology a long time. I never saw Will Smith there, but I saw Jada at the Celebrity Center. They opened up a Scientology school, and have since closed it. But Jada, I had seen her at the Scientology Celebrity Center all the time,” she said.

But on Tuesday, Smith took her thoughts to Twitter to say that she has studied Dianetics and appreciated the merits of Study Tech, but is not a Scientologist. She also made a good argument by saying that she’s been to several temples, but this doesn’t mean that she is a Buddhist.

Remini, who has been an active Scientologist for the past 35 years, ended her involvement with the church in 2013. Since then, she has been a vocal critic of the organization’s practices. In her 2015 memoir, “Troublemaker,” Remini shared one of her experiences with the Smiths, as well as Tom Cruise, who is a Scientologist. According to the “Kevin Can Wait” actress, Cruise asked them to participate in a game of hide-and-seek in huge home.

“At first I thought he was joking. But, no, he literally wanted to play hide-and-seek with a bunch of grown-ups in what was probably close to 7,000-square-foot house on almost three full acres of secluded land,” she wrote.

Meanwhile, the school that Remini claimed was put up by the Smiths was the New Village Leadership Academy in Calabasas, California. The institution was heavily funded by the couple and majority of its staff were Scientologists, according to Entertainment Weekly.

The Smiths previously insisted that the school was secular, but Remini claimed that the school touted Study Technology as one of its teaching methodologies. This practice has been heavily criticized because it was devised by Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard.

Additionally, the Smiths have also been donating $20,000 to HELP, a scientology literacy initiative. Unfortunately, the “Gotham” actress only denied her ties with Scientology, but did not elaborate on whether or not Remini’s claims about their donations and school were correct.
