It's been a busy week already for Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith’s son, with news that Jaden Smith is set to star in Netflix’s drama series “The Get Down” and has rejoined the social media world by reactivating his Twitter account.

Jaden has joined the cast of Baz Luhrmann’s music-driven drama “The Get Down,” to air in Netflix on 2016, reported E!News on Tuesday. He will star as Marcus "Dizzie" Kipling, a talented and enigmatic graffiti writer raised in the South Bronx.

According to Deadline, “The Get Down” is a longtime passion project for Luhrmann. Set in 1970s New York City, the series revolves around a ragtag crew of South Bronx teenagers who have no one to shelter them, except each another.

Luhrmann says of the casting: “We as an audience have known Jaden since he was very young. Recently, Jaden has been seeking diverse and challenging roles and this is a testament to his passion to grow in the craft. We’re all very happy with the casting of Jaden in the role of ‘Dizzie’ Kipling, and with his addition, the Kipling family cast is now complete.”

Jaden, it seems, is already developing his “Get Down” skill set, taking lessons from the legendary graffiti artist Lady Pink of "Wild Style" fame and immersing himself in the history and culture of the Bronx.

Known for his roles in movies such as ‘The Karate Kid’, ‘The Pursuit of Happiness’ and ‘After Earth,’ Jaden is also famous for some mind-blowing shout-outs on social media. Unfortunately the teen has been silent since early May, until recently, when news of Jaden reactivating his Twitter account surfaced. Entertainment Weekly reported Jaden went back on Twitter on Tuesday.

The rapper turned actor has yet to tweet anything new, but his more than 5 million followers are definitely looking forward to his future posts and messages.
