Jalen Hurts' contract might make him the most undervalued player in the entire NFL. The Philadelphia Eagles star isn't even one of the 50 highest-paid quarterbacks in the entire league based on his average annual salary.

Hurts is still on his rookie contract, which runs through the 2023 season. After making $1.157 million during an MVP-caliber 2022 season, Hurts' base salary for the final year of his contract is $4.3 million.

Hurts' contract has an average annual value of $1.5 million

Young star quarterbacks are always among the league's best bargains because their rookie contracts limit how much money they can make in their first few seasons. Because Hurts was a second-round pick, he's given the Eagles even more bang for their buck this season than the likes of Joe Burrow and Justin Herbert, both of whom have yet to sign lucrative extensions.

The Eagles are well aware that they will soon have to pay Hurts like a top-tier quarterback. Hurts' four-year rookie contract is worth a little over $6 million. If Philadelphia gives Hurts an extension, the quarterback's new salary could be at least 10 times what he's set to make in the 2023 season.

"I don't think he has anything to prove," Eagles CEO Jeffrey Lurie told ESPN's Sal Paolantonio when asked about the possibility of trying to extend Hurts. "He is an MVP-caliber quarterback, an incredible leader of the team on the field, off the field. He's 24 years old, incredibly mature and, most importantly, driven to be even better. What we're seeing today I think is just the beginning for Jalen. This guy will attack every weakness as he has since high school, since college. The future is bright and very exciting for all of us."

Aaron Rodgers is the highest-paid quarterback in terms of average annual salary, making north of $50 million per season. Five quarterbacks make at least $45 million a year.

The Kansas City Chiefs gave Patrick Mahomes the biggest contract extension in league history before he could enter free agency. Mahomes is signed to a record 10-year, $450 million deal.

Hurts took the Eagles to the playoffs in his first season as the team's starter. Philadelphia made the Super Bowl in the second full year with Hurts as the No. 1 quarterback.

The Eagles are 22-8 in the last two regular seasons with Hurts under center.
