James Packer feels that dating Mariah Carey had been a mistake.

The billionaire mogul has kept his silence about his relationship with the "Touch My Body" singer after their split. However, Packer finally opened up about his previous romance with Carey in a recent interview with The Australian. According to the businessman, he had been at a low point in his life when he met Carey and he found the singer exciting and fun.

"I was at a low point in my personal life," Packer, 50, said (via Us Weekly). "She was kind, exciting and fun. Mariah is a woman of substance. But it was a mistake for her and a mistake for me."

According to their relationship timeline, Carey and Packer made their relationship public on June 19, 2015 in Capri, when they were spotted holding hands while walking. Sources close to the ex-couple said that they loved spending time with each other.

On July 22, 2015, Carey dedicated her song "Hero" to Packer when she performed at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace. "I've got a new heart," Carey told the audience. "James is in the house."

Everything seemed fine between the two at the time, and Carey's ex, Nick Cannon, even gave Packer his stamp of approval. On Jan. 21, 2016, Packer took their relationship to the next level when he proposed to the singer. The two had already talked about their wedding plans, but things didn't turn out well during their Greece vacation. The couple reportedly had a big fight during the getaway that led to their split.

"The fight was not because of any cheating allegations or excessive spending by Mariah," the singer's rep told Entertainment Tonight. "They are trying to work it out. Right now, they're not sure if they will stay together."

According to Us Weekly, a source told them that Carey was "blindsided" when she read a report from an Australian publication suggesting that he dumped her. She was "devastated" and "shocked."

Carey has since moved on from her bitter split with ex-fiancé Packer. In an interview with Ellen DeGeneres, the "All I Want for Christmas Is You" songstress stated that she's doing well. "Everything happens for a reason. Things are the way they are," Carey said.
