Jane Gloriana Villanueva (Gina Rodriguez) has started seeing her first love again, Adam Alvaro (Tyler Posey), in “Jane the Virgin” Season 4. Given her baby daddy Rafael Solano’s (Justin Baldoni) unemployed status, the two men are bound to see each other more often than they’d like.

Rafael is currently staying at Jane’s house since he was kicked out of the Marbella Hotel, and Baldoni told Us Magazine that a lot of conflict will ensue between his character and Jane.

“Rafael and he can be very tone deaf and say hurtful things. He’s never had to deal with the consequences. Jane provides a lot of insight. When people have these different outlooks on life, you get this interesting spark and see both of them learn about each other,” he said.

As for Rafael and Adam, the not-so-new man in Jane’s life, things are also going to get complicated. Baldoni refused to say what Rafael will do when he meets Adam, but one thing’s for sure - Rafael won’t like it when he sees his son Mateo warming up to Adam.

“It’s interesting — but fun! This is a real thing families deal with this all the time, new people coming in. I love the way our show delicately and educationally the subject,” he said.

Posey said the exact same thing during an interview with Vanity Fair. “Raf is obviously very, you know, hesitant about me meeting Mateo. Adam’s a very loose, open, fun-loving person and Raf’s a little by-the-numbers. So whenever they interact it can be really really funny,” he said.

Posey actually hopes that Jane would end up with Adam, since Adam’s the kind of guy she needs in her life right now. “Adam’s a sweetheart. And he has everyone’s best interests in mind, and all he wants to do is kinda have fun and I think Jane kind of needs that in her life. She needs somebody to rely on and just kind of get out of the dark place that she’s in. So I think Adam’s a very necessary character to kind of help Jane move on in a sense,” he said.

“Jane the Virgin” Season 4 airs every Friday on The CW at 9 p.m. EDT.
