Total automobile production output in Japan for August was 811,944 units, up 15.7 percent from an year earlier. The figure marks the 10th consecutive month of increase, the Japanese Automobile Association said on Friday.

Output of all passenger cars rose 15.8 percent to 678,700 thousand units. Within that segment, output of standard-sized passenger cars was up 22.0 percent at over 344.5 thousand units. Mini-vehicle output rose 5.1 percent to 227,600 thousand units, while trucks were up 14 percent to 126,400 thousand units.

The number of exported automobiles increased by 23.9 percent from a year earlier, for a total of 450,000, reaching the 13th consecutive month of increased shipments.
