"American Pie" actor Jason Biggs and his wife, actress Jenny Mollen, announced the birth of their first child, a baby boy named Sid, via Instagram on Tuesday.

The boy was born Saturday, weighing in at eight pounds and eight ounces, in West Hollywood's Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Mollen told Us Weekly. She added: “Ended up having to have an unplanned C-section.”

On Tuesday, Mollen shared the news on Instagram as she posted a series of videos and pictures.

"February 15th, 2014 3:00am #babybiggs," she captioned a video of herself sitting in a car on her way to the hospital.

In another video posted on Mollen’s Instagram account, Biggs congratulated her after the birth of their son. "You did amazing, sweetie. I'm so proud of you," the actor told his wife. "He's beautiful. He's pretty damn cute."

Mollen posted a picture of her son sleeping in the hospital cot, followed by another picture of her fast asleep after taking pain relievers, with the caption: “Mom is doing great and a fan of dilaudin.”

“We are incredibly grateful to all the nurses and staff at Cedars Sinai! Everybody was top notch:) particularly fond of this resident. #babybiggs,” read the caption of another picture that Mollen posted on Instagram.

Biggs, 35, reportedly announced last July that they both were very excited about having their first child together. And, Mollen shared with Us Weekly about the way she celebrated her baby shower last November.

"When my mother and sister told me they wanted to throw me a baby shower I was skeptical. I hate games, large groups, and being gifted shoes that I can't fit into," she admitted. "On the flip side, the shower was to be a high tea at the Peninsula Hotel in Beverly Hills, and I love a good scone. So I reluctantly accepted."

Biggs and Mollen got engaged in January 2008 and tied the knot in "a very private ceremony" in Los Angeles three months later. The two reportedly met on the sets of "My Best Friend's Girl."
