After playing an endearing lover with Julia Roberts in Eat Pray Love, Javier Bardem is all set to pick up the gun and play the bad guy in the Bond series.

An Oscar winner for his incredible performance as hitman in the 2007 released movie No Country For Old Men, Bardem, after months of rumors, has finally confirmed his part in the upcoming James Bond film, which will be the 23rd movie of the series. Ex-Bond stars Daniel Craig and Judi Dench would act along with him in the movie, MSNBC reported.

I am very excited, the 42-year-old Spanish actor told Christiane Amanpour of joining the famed 007 franchise, during a recent Nightline interview.

My parents took me to watch the movies and I saw all of them. So to play that is going to be fun! said the report.

The casting confirmation did not really reveal any other information about his latest role.

They chose me to play this man, but I cannot give you many details, he said.

Skyfall, the next bond movie, is slated for release on Nov. 9, 2012.
