Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler took to Twitter on Monday night to address negative comments some have made about his fiancée Kristin Cavallari's pregnancy.

The couple announced the surprising baby news to People on Sunday, but it appears some comments have rubbed Cutler the wrong way. It seems he has taken some exception to comments made by media members and others about the couple's relationship status.

Cutler tweeted on Monday night: Thanks for all the tweets. We couldn't be more excited. We don't usually comment on our relationship but for the record I never broke up with Kristin. Its unfortunate some people are saying hurtful things during such a joyous moment in our life.

Most believe that the couple broke up on July 23rd after only a two-month engagement period. Cavallari even seemed to acknowledge as much when she told People in November, Sometimes, in order for things to get better, they have to end - even if it's momentarily.

It was widely reported that the couple got back together in November -- the couple even announced getting engaged again on Nov. 30th -- but clearly Cutler thinks otherwise.

The quarterback's tweets send the news cycle in another direction after what has already been a busy week of Cutler-Cavallari coverage. The couple exclusively told People on Sunday that they were expecting their first child together.

We are thrilled to announce we are expecting our first child together, they told People. It's an amazing time in our life and we can't wait to meet the new addition to our growing family.

But even that news wasn't cut and dry. Cavallari and Cutler are reportedly extremely excited about having a baby together, but were shocked by the news, according to TMZ. The entertainment outlet reported that the couple had discussed the possibility of kids but planned to start cranking 'em out in a few years...not any time soon.
