Nickelodeon’s teen sitcom, “Sam & Cat,” may not be renewed despite its high ratings because of a feud between the network and the show's star, Jennette McCurdy, which has allegedly halted the show's production.

McCurdy, who stars alongside Ariana Grande on the successful series has been venting about her issues with Nickelodeon, blaming the network for her absence at the Kids’ Choice Awards, which was held Saturday. According to reports, the main reason behind the feud remains unclear as some say it was due to McCurdy’s racy pictures that were leaked online last month, while others say it was over money.

“We are wrapping up what was an unusually long production cycle of Sam & Cat, and everyone is understandably tired. We are going into our production hiatus next week, which will give everyone on the show a much-needed rest," a Nickelodeon spokesperson reportedly said, in a statement.

McCurdy took to Twitter to explain her absence at the award ceremony accusing the network of unfair treatment.

"I was put in an uncomfortable, compromising, unfair situation (many of you have guessed what it is) and I had to look out for me. I chose to not go because sticking up for what is right and what is fair is what my mom taught me is ALWAYS the most important thing,” she wrote.

“My previous tweet has nothing to do with pics leaked.oh you guys lol,” she wrote in another tweet. “It has to do with how nickelodeon treated me. That's all. Thanks for the love.”

According to The Hollywood Reporter, a representative for the network said: “We have the utmost respect for Jennette McCurdy,” adding that “there is no connection” between McCurdy’s photo scandal and the show’s break.
