Jennifer Garner just landed a role in the upcoming film, “The Tribes of Palos Verdes.”

The 45-year-old actress will be giving life to a woman who was betrayed by her husband, something that she may have also experienced in real life. Garner filed for divorce from Ben Affleck, and reports swirled that it was because the actor cheated on his wife with their children’s nanny.

While speaking with Entertainment Tonight, Garner opened up about the film and said, “It was just really exciting getting to be a part of getting this movie made. It’s one of those tiny little movies that’s an engine that could.”

Garner will be playing the role of a single mom in the film, but the actress said that she did not use her personal experiences to help her with portraying the character.

“Anytime that you’re playing someone who is going through something, you have to just figure it out, and you actually – believe it or not – don’t use your own life as much as you might think. You just get into that place. That’s your job and then you shake it off, because you have to go home and raise your kids. It’s just like any other time I do a scene with an emotional place,” she explained.

Meanwhile, “The Tribes of Palos Verdes” director Emmett Maloy praised Garner for her acting chops in the scene where her character found out that her husband cheated on her. “That scene in particular, I know that Jennifer said that she popped a blood vessel. So that kind of sums it up. She just joined the crew and was really with it, and didn’t have a trailer and just sat there every day in that house and did scene after scene,” he said.

After Garner wraps up production for her upcoming film, the actress will star in another movie, titled “Peppermint.” “It’s a movie that I really love the story and the script and I’ll start it next month,” she said.

“The Tribes of Palos Verdes” will hit select theaters and VOD platforms on Dec. 1.
