Josh Groban was just a block away from the street where a recent terrorist attack in New York City took place.

Following the incident, the award-winning singer detailed his experience and said that he heard gun shots and ran as quickly as possible with his dog in tow. Groban also revealed that he was supposed to get coffee on the corner close to the incident, but his dog pulled him towards the park. Had his dog not pulled him, he could’ve been injured.

According to New York City officials, a truck rammed into people on a bike path before slamming into a school bus just several blocks away from the World Trade Center memorial on Tuesday.

Eight people have already been pronounced dead, and 12 others were injured. Six of the eight people, all males, died at the scene, while two others were declared dead after being taken to the hospital. Two children were among the 12 that were injured.

Groban also shared a video featuring some members of the NYPD responding quickly to the incident. A 28-year-old NYPD officer named Ryan Nash made headlines following the incident because he risked his life just to make sure others will be kept safe, according to People.

Nash rushed to the scene and fired at the suspect’s stomach. A paintball gun and pellet gun were also recovered from the vehicle. New York Councilman Joe Borelli confirmed the report and even shared a photo of Nash on Twitter. Following the incident, Nash was brought to Bellevue Hospital after he complained of ringing in his ears.

According to CBS News, Nash joined the department in 2012. He has also been a very active cop, with approximately 50 arrests to his record. During the press conference, New York City Police Commissioner James P. O’Neill commended Nash for his bravery.

“I want to commend the response of our NYPD officer that was on post near the location who stopped the carnage moments after it began,” he said.

As of late, the suspect, who is reportedly in his 30s, is already in custody, and there are no other suspects named. New York Mayor Bill de Blasio called the incident an “act of terror.”
