A former star of Fox’s “MasterChef” reality series was arrested on Monday after delivering a bizarre rant and brawling with police in Chicago.

Josh Marks, 26, reportedly told cops that celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay, judge and presenter on the cooking series “MasterChef,” is an “a--hole” who possessed his body and “transformed him into God,” TMZ reports. The alleged altercation with police began on Monday when a University of Chicago security officer noticed an injured Marks attempting to use an emergency phone near the campus.

When the officer approached Marks, he noticed that the 7-foot-2-inch “MasterChef” star had suffered several cuts to his face, TMZ reports. The officer reportedly asked Marks if he was alright, prompting the 26-year-old to assault him and attempt to steal his firearm.

Three university officers attempted to restrain Marks with batons and pepper spray, but their attempts were unsuccessful, TMZ reports. Marks broke away and fled to a local resident’s backyard, where he was finally apprehended by five officers.

After his arrest, Marks was taken to a local hospital for treatment, TMZ reports. The former “MasterChef” runner-up launched into a bizarre rant, reportedly blaming Ramsay for his actions and claiming that the celebrity chef had possessed his body. Law enforcement officials claim that drugs were not a factor in Marks’ actions but noted that doctors removed bullet fragments from Marks’ face, which apparently stemmed from a separate incident.

The “MasterChef” star remains in a Chicago-area hospital chained to a gurney, TMZ reports. He faces felony charges of aggravated battery on a peace officer and attempting to disarm a peace officer. If found guilty, Marks faces a maximum sentence of 14 years in prison.

A U.S. Army contract specialist, Marks was a finalist on the third season of “MasterChef,” finishing second to Christine Ha, the Daily Mail notes.
