An historically brutal spate of weather recorded another milestone today as Kansas Insurance Commissioner announced that storms had caused $502.5 million worth of devastation in April, an all-time single month high for the state.

The $502.5 million figure shatters the previous record of $337.5 million set in June of 2008 and was generated by some 66,000 insurance claims submitted in April.

Most of the damage was caused by hail and severe winds; the figure does not take into account flood damages.
